Hello! I’m Hannah Bacos. With over five years of experience, I am dedicated to helping children, individuals, couples, and families navigate the complexities of their relationships. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and have developed a person-centered approach that emphasizes collaborative goal-setting and tailors treatment to the unique needs of each individual and family.
Much of my experience has been with neurodivergent children and adults, and I draw inspiration from the works of Carl Rogers and Virginia Satir. Like Rogers, I emphasize empathy and unconditional positive regard in my person-centered therapy, while utilizing Satir’s transformative family therapy techniques to enhance communication and self-esteem. I highly value supporting families to improve communication and foster healthy, unique connections.
I believe that families are the blueprint for the adults children become, and it is essential for us to work together to support both children and those who care for them. I look forward to seeing you around the practice soon!
Hi, my name's Hannah Backus. I'm an associate at Teen Therapy Center, and I have been working
with the team for about a year now. Before this, I was a student at the Chicago School of Professional
Psychology, and I was working with people on the spectrum. I have found that I have continued
to work with a lot of the neurodivergent community over the years, mostly ADHD at this practice.
I've also found that I like working with anxious parents and a lot of anxious pre -teens, especially
girls. One of my goals is to always bring the parents or the caregiver into the room, into the
situation, because I'm only there for an hour maybe once a week for a certain amount of time while
the whole family's there for this person's whole lifetime. So I think it's important to involve
everyone in the process. So as a parent coming to therapy with their child or on their own, I think
that it's important to know that it's a vulnerable experience whether you're the client or
not and it's going to be a journey
for everyone involved not just the person coming in as the main client and I hope to be a partner
in that because it takes a lot to be a parent and it takes a lot of work to raise people and so it's
going to be vulnerable and it might be a little hard but the work that you do can pay off in the long
run, and it may take as long as it takes, but the goal is always to make sure that everyone's found
some sort of connection and is starting to thrive. So some things about me is I'm a big reader.
Ever since I finished grad school, I've been reading for fun again. I do a lot of comic books.
I do a lot of historical fiction and fantasy. I have an ongoing Dungeons and Dragons campaign
with at least three different groups of people that have been going on for about five years now.
And I watch a lot of anime, which goes pretty far with the kids these days because it's cool again.
And I spend a lot of time cooking and baking for my family and the office. So there is a chance that
at some point you
show up and I have a baked good for you. That's some stuff about me and you'll be able to find the
links to get in contact with me or anyone at the clinic on this page here. And I really look forward
to seeing you around the practice whether you pick me or not. I hope that we get to at least say
some nice words to each other.
