Kent is a warm and friendly guy who is known by many as being easy to talk to. When you meet with Kent, you’ll notice that he’s not judging you. Instead he is really listening to you. Not just the words you say, but more importantly, he genuinely understands the emotions you feel. When you are in therapy with Kent, you can expect to feel safe… safe enough to honestly acknowledge and accept your feelings, challenge yourself to rise above your pain and creatively take healthy emotional risks to empower and improve your life.
Kent Toussaint, M.A. is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. He created Teen Therapy Center because he wanted to do two things:
- Offer quality care specifically designed for the needs of teens and families.
- Train up-and-coming counselors who want to specialize in empathically and effectively supporting adolescents.
Leading his wonderful staff, Kent is the supervisor and director of the center, but also passionately continues to work directly with clients. In addition to his work at Teen Therapy Center, you can often find Kent delivering workshops at local parent organizations about parenting kids and teens. Kent is a leader in the field of adolescent treatment, providing educational seminars to mental health professionals and interns throughout Los Angeles.
From 2017 – 2018, Kent engaged the parents of Los Angeles via a monthly segment on CBS2 Weekend Morning News called, Ask Kent where he answered parenting questions live on the air. You can find those clips on our Media Page. Additionally, Kent has created a weekly Vlog called Tips on Teens that can be found on our Blog Page. This evolved out of the monthly articles that Kent used to write, but found that he is able to answer more questions and reach out to more people in need with the help of his sparkling personality.
For families looking for a therapist who is familiar with their Attachment Parenting philosophies, Kent is a Certified Attached at the Heart Parent Educator through Attachment Parenting International.
Kent is thrilled to be able to do what he loves, and be a part of the positive changes so many families are making.
