Hi, my name is David Muns and I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at Teen Therapy Center. I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Children and Adolescents from Antioch University. My training has given me the opportunity to work closely with teens, young adults, and families as they navigate emotional and developmental challenges.

Every person is unique, and my approach reflects that. I strive to understand who my clients are as individuals and work collaboratively with them in a way that supports their specific needs, strengths, and goals. While the therapeutic process can be challenging at times, my role is to be in my client’s corner offering guidance, validation, and tools that empower them to be their authentic selves.

I have worked with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, and major life transitions such as starting a new school, going off to college, or processing loss and divorce, among many other areas. I primarily use a person-centered approach that highlights the importance of the therapeutic relationship, while also incorporating elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My goal is to ensure that every client feels supported, heard, and safe in the therapeutic space.

Hi, my name is David Muns, and I'm an associate therapist here at Teen Therapy Center. I wanted
to work with kids and teens, uh, since I was in high school. Uh, I worked at a summer camp for a number of years and realized that it was a group of people I could connect with. I also had my own issues as a kid and a teen and thought that it would be a good way for me to pay it forward. I was a really awkward teenager. Uh, I didn't quite know where I fit in and didn't really know how to express
myself in a productive way. It took me a long time to figure out who my people were and who I was.
I think the issue I see teens struggling with the most is anxiety. Um, whether that's related
to grades or peers, athletic performance, things just happening in their lives that they're
not really sure about. Um, it's a really difficult time to be a teenager. I think, like with any
relationship with any other person, you need to have a good baseline understanding of who you're
talking to. Uh, you need to build up that relationship slowly over time and develop trust. Uh, with teens, it's no different, especially in a therapeutic dynamic. I think it's really important, uh, that we have common understanding with each other, that there's a lot of trust built, um, and that there's some fun, too. Therapy can be really intimidating for a parent. I think that my approach is one that allows me to better connect with your kids, uh, in a way that's accessible for them and non-confrontational for you. I, I feel like I provide a lot of opportunity for communication and really focus on the whole family instead of just the individual. I earned my master's degree from Antioch University and did my traineeship at Child and Teen Counseling. I really enjoyed my time at Child and Teen Counseling 'cause it gave me a lot of opportunities to better build my skills as, as a therapist, especially as it relates to younger people. There's not many places that allow trainees to work so hands-on with, uh, teens and kids, and that was an incredibly valuable experience for me. Outside of being a therapist, I love music. Uh, I play guitar and go to concerts whenever I can. I also love movies, TV, comic books, uh, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. If you're interested in working with me, I'd love to hear from you. Uh, my contact information is on this page, and I look forward to hearing from you and your family!
