Almost every family we work with here at Teen Therapy Center has some issues around screen time. Kids today were born as digital natives. In today’s digital age, children are growing up surrounded by screens and constant entertainment, leading to difficulties in self-soothing and coping without technology.
Digital devices are nothing more than the equivalent of a digital pacifier that distracts kids from dealing with their real issues. Device dependency inhibits a teens ability to develop coping skills and strategies for dealing with the real world. And just like the pacifier, it’s going to be hard to take away!
Societal pressure for girls to look a certain way is so pervasive that it’s impossible to avoid.
